UNIFORM POLICY / ACADEMY DRESS CODE The Executive Team has adopted a mandatory uniform policy for all students. Research shows that school uniforms support a disciplined learning environment which is the first requirement of any good school. Students who are safe and secure, who learn the basic values and the essentials of good citizenship are better students. Uniforms also instill a sense of community, helping student become part of a team. It is the team effort that will help students experience a greater sense of school identity and belonging and promote academic excellence. The MOECA Prep uniform consists of: BOYS - Navy blue pants from September - May
Navy blue shorts from May - June (optional) - Light blue polo-style shirt w/Academy logo
- Navy blue cardigan sweater or navy blue sweater vest w/ Academy logo
- Closed toe, rubber-soled, sturdy shoes that cover the foot entirely. For safety reasons, please refrain from sending your child to the Academy in Crocs™, sandals, flip-flops, slippery soled shoes, etc.
- During the summer months (late June - August), students will be allowed to wear non-uniform clothing.
GIRLS - Navy blue jumper or skorts (skirt with undershorts) or pants
- Light blue Peter Pan-collared blouse
- Navy blue cardigan sweater or sweater vest w/ Academy logo
- Closed toes, rubber soled, sturdy shoes that cover the foot entirely. For safety reasons, please refrain from sending your child to the Academy in Crocs™, sandals, flip-flops, slippery soled shoes, etc.
- During the summer months, students will be allowed to wear non-uniform clothing.
Each day, your child should arrive neatly every morning in a cleaned and pressed uniform in the proper size. Your child will be considered out of uniform if his/her pants are too small, too large, too tight, un-hemmed and without a belt if the pants have belt loops; shirts and sweaters must be the proper size (not too large or too small). Arriving at school properly dressed plants the seeds of self-confidence and self-esteem in our students. At MOECA Prep, your child’s safety is of great concern, therefore, we ask that you send your child to school wearing a sturdy shoe that supports the foot properly and protects the toes. Sneakers with socks or tights are best. Children are not permitted to wear open-toed shoes, clogs, flip-flops or boots due to the dangers associated with running, playing and climbing during playground time and physical activities. Your child should be dressed appropriately for each season. During the cooler months, please be sure that your child has a warm jacket, gloves, hat, and ear muffs, as we will go outside daily, weather permitting. A hat is recommended for the summer months to prevent sun overexposure.
Because a wide variety of activities take place at the Academy, and some of these activities may be messy, we recommend that an extra uniform or two and extra undergarments be kept on site. Please be sure to label each article of clothing brought to the school with the student’s name and phone number. Although we will do our best to keep track of all articles brought by our students, please note that MOECA Prep will not be responsible for or be required to replace damaged or lost clothing and items.
